Hamid R. Marateb (Senior member, IEEE; Marie Curie Alumni Association (MCAA) member; IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society member) received the B.S. and M.S. degrees from the Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Science and Amirkabir University of Technology, Tehran, Iran, in 2000 and 2003, respectively. He received his Ph.D. (in neural systems and biomechanics) and the post-doctoral fellowship from the Laboratory of Engineering of Neuromuscular Systems, Politecnico di Torino, Turin, Italy in 2011 and 2012, respectively. He was a visiting researcher at Stanford University in 2009 and Aalborg University in 2010. He was a visiting professor in UPC, Barcelona, in 2012, 2017 and 2020.
His research line is Cognitive Informatics in Health and Biomedicine, mainly focusing on Clinical neurophysiology, Computational Neurosciences, and Medical Data mining. Dr. Marateb is a reviewer in more than 50 international ISI journals and is now on the editorial board of Frontiers in Integrative Physiology, Frontiers in Cognitive Neuroscience, Basic and Clinical Neurosciences, Journal of Medical Signals and Sensors, Prosthesis, and Advanced Biomedical research. He was a Guest editor in Diagnostics with the special issue "Computer-Assisted Diagnosis and Treatment of Mental Disorders". Currently, he is a guest associate editor in Frontiers in Human Neuroscience with the research topic "Brain mapping: From Digital Microscopic to Gross Macroscopic Brain Imaging". He also received European Union/Spanish grants (e.g., Marie Curie fellowship and MYOSLEEVE).He is also running a special issue "COVID-19 Risk Assessment for Automatic Diagnosis and Prognosis" in Diagnostics. He has been at the research council of “Medical Image and Signal Processing Research Center” of Isfahan University of Medical Sciences (IUMS) since 2015, and a founder of “Regenerative Medicine Research Center” of IUMS (members, acceptance letters).
He is
currently with the department of biomedical engineering, faculty of engineering,
the University of Isfahan, IRAN (since 2011; presently associate professor) and
also BIOsignal Analysis for Rehabilitation and Therapy Research Group (BIOART),

Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, BarcelonaTech (UPC), Barcelona, Spain

Marateb was the vice-chancellor of education of engineering faculty and is
now responsible for the internationalization of the engineering faculty and also
a member of the international policy-making of the University of Isfahan. He has
been serving the following courses in the department: modeling of biological
systems, pattern recognition, electromyography, nonlinear optimization,
biomedical signals processing, biostatistics and research methods, scientific
writing, engineering of neuromuscular systems, medical data mining, medical
device regulations, introduction to biomedical engineering, and electric
circuits I.
